A Cabin in the Woods (d6/table)

The porch swing keeps pounding into the wall ominously.

The Location: ... The Twist: ... The Spoils: ...

A family estate in ruins. Huge portraits hang in the hallways. Great big wooden furniture occupies the rooms. The ceiling is collapsing and walls are falling down. Water is pooling on the ceiling and running through the estate. Soiled papers, furniture, and artwork litter the homestead.

An old hunter's cabin. Taxidermic creatures great and small line the halls. A great elk's head hangs above the doorway, though mice have eaten through the ears and nose. The basement is filled with rusty traps, cages, and weapons in disrepair.

A nondescript log cabin made of pale logs. It has been gutted of all belongings, and the doors have been ripped from their frames. The floors are covered in thick mud, making it difficult to tell which flooring was ever finished. The stairs to the second story have collapsed.

A small family chapel in a small wooded meadow. The entire church is flooded, with religious scripts floating throughout the chamber. A makeshift pipe organ dominates the rear of the room. If the correct series of notes is played, it opens up to a hidden grotto.

A witch's hut. Small animal bones wrapped with hair and twine hang from various places along the walls. Earthen pots contain cloudy foul-smelling mixtures. A cauldron of rotten ichor is slowly simmering on the coals of a fire.

Bandit's hideout. Ashes in the fireplace, food scraps and trash scattered about. The cabin looks plain on the exterior. Tin hangs inside the windows and doors, alerting occupants to intruders.

Vagrants who have been sheltering in the attic are hiding there, hoping not to be found.

A shed outside contains a hidden trap door. Below is a laboratory full of experimental potions.

There's an arcane book in the basement, bound in human flesh. If read, will awaken an ancient horror that attacks the reader and attempts to possess them.

Violent ghosts haunt the property. If the building is defiled in any way, they will attack the party. The damage they do is illusory, but painful and totally convincing.

The staircase to the basement will collapse under any type of weight.

The cabin's owner returns, with defensive intent.
